  General Notes:

In 1865 he was living with his parents and siblings on the Pella farm in Trøgstad. The census identifies his age as 11 years old.

The 1900 census shows Julius and his family on the Løkke (gnr.53, bnr.24) farm in Askim. There were a number of tailors and shoemakers on Løkke with them.

Eilert Nygaard told the story that Johanne Martinsdatter got pregnant by Julius before they were married and so they left their family homes to start a new farm (Nygaard). 1919

When he was baptised on 21 October 1855 his godparents are listed as Sofie, Anne and Petter Pella, and Johan and Julius Næs.

  Medical Notes:

He was recorded as a furniture maker (møbelsnekker) when he died.

• He worked as a farmer, farmowner and furniture carpenter [gaardbruger møbbelsnedker S] in 1910 in Maridalen, Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway. 1920

They had ten children. Two died as children.

They were living on the Skratalsrud farm in Trøgstad when their son Peder Oskar was christened in January 1883. They appear to have recorded older birthdates for themselves in the church record. His was recorded as 28/5 51 and hers was recorded as 30/12 58.

They were living on the Bingen farm in Trøgstad in April 1885, when their daughter Mary was christened.

They were living on the Grimsrud farm in Trøgstad when their daughter Nelly was christened in May 1888.

They were living on the Nygaard farm in Trøgstad by the time their son Thomas Ludvig was christened in August 1894. Julius was then calling himself Nygaard. They were there when their daughter Borghild was christened in October 1897. The farm was near the Bingen farm, "Nygaard ved Bingen".

They were living on Sandem in December 1903 and on Slårstad (?) in March 1908, according to the records of their children's christenings.

In the census for 1910 Julius and Johanne owned and farmed Maradalen in Eidsberg. They had 2 sons (Tomas and Borgi), 2 daughters (Gulborg and Minni) and a granddaughter (Gunhild Kristiansen) with them.
